Perham Area Learning Center

The Perham Area Learning Center offers programs for students in middle and high school who have experienced difficulty in the traditional educational setting. The programs are designed to encourage all District 549 students to achieve academic success and complete their education.

The Perham ALC Independent Study Program is available to 16-21 year-olds who have fallen behind in satisfactorily completing coursework, for those who desire a program that better meets their individual needs, or for those who have dropped out and want to return to earn their high school diploma. The curriculum is individualized to meet student needs while emphasizing fundamental life skills and vocational classes.

The Perham Targeted Services program identifies learners ages 12-15 that would benefit from extended school year time, including summer school and after school, as well as extra time with other helping agencies. The goal of the Targeted Services program is to provide extra time to help students gain the academic and social skills they need to succeed in school.

All students enrolled in the Perham Area Learning Center must qualify under the Minnesota Graduation Incentives Program as designated by the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning.

The Perham Area Learning Center encourages all students who have not completed their high school education to call or visit and explore their educational opportunities with us.
